Seam Profiles SnoCleat Components

The SnoCleat RCT and RC is a line of standing seam-mounted snow guards that can be installed at any time of the year.

Always review the SnoCleat RCT spacing guidelines and panel compatibility before purchasing. This product features a large 4-inch-wide face designed to accept a 2-inch-wide color strip to match your roof. The RCT version fits most standing seams up to 1" wide, including bulb seams and t-seams. Interior Clamp Dimensions are 1” Wide x 1.375” High. This is the only seam-mounted snow guard product to offer an exclusive 3" swivel bracket that allows for a 31-degree angle adjustment in hips and converging valleys. If more angle adjustment is needed, the RCB-3 Swivel Bracket that swivels to 31 degrees may be substituted in place of the included RCB-2 Swivel Bracket. The torque on the mounting bracket can be adjusted to help protect the seams in the event of heavy snow and ice impact. The RoofClamp RC and RCT mounting clamps have been shear-tested and tensile-tested by a nationally known testing lab.

SnoCleat RCT Special Note

Since there is no release factor on individual standing seam-mounted snow guards, panel damage may occur in the event of a sudden snow slide. "Caveat Emptor" is a common problem and a major concern with other brands of seam-mounted snow guards. This common problem may be mitigated by decreasing the torque setting on our exclusive swivel bracket. Snow guards should never be used on isolated areas of a roof, such as just over vents, chimneys, or doorways. Multiple rows of snow guards may be required, depending on the roof pitch and length of the run. The most effective method of retaining snow and ice on a metal roof is to follow the suggested manufacturer’s spacing guidelines before installing this snow guard system.

SnoCleat RCT Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our seam-mounted snow guards are intended only for snow retention. NEVER tie off to any of our snow guards or rail systems for fall protection. Check out the RidgePro if you're looking for a dependable and quick fall prevention option.

The SnoCleat RC and SnoCleat RCT snow guards for metal roofing can be installed on the majority of the standing seam panels currently available. When using a Bulb Seam or T-Seam panel for your project, the SnoCleat RCT must be used. See our panel compatibility chart for more details on installing these guards. The SnoCleat RCT will fit all of the same panels as the RC, but the RC is a less expensive option for homeowners with standard panel profiles.

The cupped-tip stainless steel set screws used to secure our seam-mounted snow guards to the roof create a posi-lock attachment. This tried-and-true set screw design provides superior strength without panel penetration. While the competition requires up to 150 in-lbs of torque

For more information about the layout of your snow guard system, please visit our spacing guidelines pages. Diagrams and brief explanations of the recommended spacing required for different roof pitches and seam spacing configurations are included in these FREE, user-friendly instructions.

In rare instances, a single row may be adequate for your project if the roof pitch and ground snow load are both minimal. For optimal weight distribution, however, multiple rows that run the length of the roof and up the slope are typically necessary. The goal of a proper snow guard layout is to keep snow and ice in place so that it can melt and drain into the gutters. Contrary to popular belief, snow guards are not meant to act as a barrier to stop snow and ice that is sliding down the roof. Snow can weigh between 1 and 21+ pounds per cubic foot, depending on the amount of moisture it contains. It's critical to minimize movement because adding motion velocity can significantly increase the force on your snow guards.

About SnoBlox-Snojax

In the late 1970s, we embarked on a quest for an improved snow guard solution that would be non-corrosive and nearly invisible to preserve the building's aesthetic appeal. After extensive testing, we obtained a patent for Snojax®, the world's first screw-down, clear, non-corrosive, polycarbonate snow guard. In 1985, we innovated further with the release of Snojax II, the world's first glue-down polycarbonate snow guard. By 2000, we introduced two patented SnoBlox® models, "Ace" and "Deuce," offering an economical alternative and resolving the challenge of straddling minor ribs. These models boasted the industry's first patented waffled base design, enhancing adhesive bonding. In 2005, we expanded our offerings with Icejax I and Icejax II, which were validated through rigorous testing by the renowned ATI professional testing laboratory. Our Snojax®, SnoBlox®, Icejax™, and SnowCatcher™ brands are the epitome of robust snow guards in the industry, validated by comprehensive testing.
