Part 1 General
  1. Ice and snow guards
    1. Mechanically fastened or adhered to prefinished, painted or galvalume metal roofs, except for lead coated & copper roofs.
      1. Snojax I (Face: 3.12”H x 5.22”W) (Mechanically fastened only, not to be used for adhesive applications.)
  2. Projected cross-sectional area perpendicular to roof slope with flat front facing toward the ridge.
    1. Mechanically fastened or adhered to prefinished, painted or galvalume metal roofs, except for lead coated & copper roofs.
      1. Snojax I (Minimum 5” snow holding area, for a total of at least 15 sq. inches) (Mechanically fastened only.)
  3. Clear or Integrally colored per architect requirements.

Materials
  1. Injection molded prime virgin grade polycarbonate polymer material construction containing a UV stabilizer to prevent damage from the ultraviolet rays of the sun.
    1. Izod impact strength (notched) 17 ft.-lb./in. for a 3.2mm thick specimen
      (ASTM TEST D 256)
    2. Thermal ratings: deflection temperature 270° F. (ASTM TEST D 648)
    3. Vicat softening temperature (Rate A)
      315° F. (ASTM TEST D 1525)
    4. Brittleness temperature – 150° F.
      (ASTM TEST D 746)
      1. General Electric "Lexan" Prime
      2. Dow "Cailbre" Prime
      3. Albis Prime
      4. Or approved equal of prime quality (No Blends)
  2. Liquid adhesive
    1. Surebond SB-190 sealant adhesive
Part 3 Execution
Typical preparation
  1. Thoroughly clean metal roof surface area with Xylol or isopropyl alcohol where the snow guard is to be installed.
  2. Contact SnoBlox for recommendations on snow guard location and spacing.

Installation Options (choose 1 of 2 methods)
  1. Mechanically fastened only, not to be used for adhesive applications.
  2. Mechanical Fastening Installation
    1. Apply a long life industrial or marine grade clear silicone covering the entire waffled base.
    2. Place snow guard in position and install corrosion-resistant #14 self drilling screws with neoprene gasket washers through pilot holes in the snow guard and metal roof sheet into a purlin or structural support.
    3. Screws to be tightened to cause approximately 50% compression in neoprene gasket.
    4. Two screws minimum to be installed per snow guard. Installer to determine proper length of screws to engage purlin, allowing for insulation
